India - SGS Mandate

To export secondary steel to India you must demonstrate conformity to the requirements of the country’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade. Compliance must be confirmed by an Approved Inspection Agency such as SGS as listed in Appendix 28 of the Handbook of Procedure (Vol.1) 2002-2007, of India’s Foreign Trade Policy.

As an Approved Inspection Agency, on successful assessment of your product, we can issue a Pre Shipment Certificate. This certificate qualifies your product to enter India through the sea ports of Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. It will verify the material description and quality and include a chemical analysis, visual inspection, dimensions and the ITC (HS) Code number.

Goods for import to India should be verified in their country of origin.

With decades of experience managing conformity assessment programs around the world we offer exporters efficient and comprehensive solutions to ensure your secondary steel shipments conform to India’s requirements.
