Brookings SD – SGS Brookings is one of only a handful of laboratories around the world that is approved by the Non-GMO Project for PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing required for companies to comply with that standard.
Approved testing in the SGS ISO 17025 laboratory includes PCR testing of various grains and food materials.
SGS maintains a strict reputation for independence, integrity and innovation, and our GMO (genetically modified organism) testing services give our clients the independent verification they need to ensure GMO-free products.
SGS uses quantitative PCR based DNA detection technology to determine the amount of GMO present in samples. With the appropriate primer and probe combination, quantitative real time PCR can detect precise amounts of GMO in samples. Qualitative PCR and ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbant Assay) protein detection methods can also be used to determine the presence or absence of the transgenic events. Other food testing analyses is performed by SGS, including testing for antibiotics, pesticide residue and nutritional information.
Staffed by highly experienced scientists and technicians, our labs have also earned the approval of several feed associations.
The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization, created by leaders representing all sectors of the organic and natural products industry in the U.S. and Canada, to offer consumers a consistent non-GMO choice for organic and natural products that are produced without genetic engineering or recombinant DNA technologies.
Working at every level of the supply chain, all the way back to the seeds, the Project’s role is to inspire and ensure viable non-GMO alternatives long into the future.
The SGS Group is the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services. Founded in 1878, SGS is recognized as the global benchmark in quality and integrity. With more than 67,000 employees, SGS operates a network of over 1,250 offices and laboratories around the world.
