Zambia (ZABS) - SGS Mandate

The Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) has appointed SGS to implement its Pre-Export Verification of Conformity Program (PVoC). Under this program ZABS requires imported regulated products to comply with Zambian and/or approved International Standards or Regulations.

The objective of the program is to protect the country and its consumers against the importation of substandard products that can endanger public health, safety and environment. It also aims to prohibit the entry of unsafe and/or counterfeit products and protect local manufacturers against unfair competition from imported products which do not comply with National Standards.

At SGS we offer a range of services to help you comply with the ZABS PVoC requirements and obtain the Certificate of Conformity that will enable you to export goods to Zambia:

• Physical inspection prior to shipment
• Sampling, testing and analysis in accredited laboratories
• Audit of product manufacturing processes
• Documentary check and assessment of conformity with the requirements of the applicable technical regulations and standards, for example ZS, ISO, IEC
