C-TPAT Audits

The US Customs and Border Protection introduced the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) voluntary supply chain security program in 2001. The program, which now has over 9000 partner companies, focuses on improving the security of company’s supply chains. A comprehensive, independent security analysis at each stage of your supply chain ensures C-TPAT compliance.

SGS provides a Supply Chain Security Audit Tool that is based on C-TPAT Requirements for Security. Our thorough and knowledgeable auditors assess your organization’s security processes, identify corrective actions and establish improvement plans to address areas of concern. We continuously monitor your compliance with C-TPAT through periodic auditing. In addition, we can evaluate the compliance of security systems and procedures of your prospective or contracted third party suppliers, manufacturers, freight forwarders and other service providers, based on a risk assessment of the entire supply chain.

1. The SGS C-TPAT team defines an audit program based on our checklist and the criteria that relate to your needs
2. Our auditors conduct an on-site audit at your locations
3. On completion of the audit, we provide you with a complete and transparent audit report. This report is reviewed by our technical reviewers before it is sent to all relevant parties named in our contract. At this stage, we will also make recommendations for future improvement
4. We continue to monitor your C-TPAT compliance according to our agreement
