SGS Achieves ISO 17025 Scope Expansion for Food Testing in Brookings, USA
Achieved in June of 2017, the expanded nutritional testing scope accreditation reinforces to clients that SGS continues to maintain the high level of competence in its performance that they have come to expect from an industry leader.
Having been ISO 9001 certified since 2008 and ISO 17025 accredited since 2009, this new site sets the standard for food testing, quality seed, crop and feed testing in North America. With 30% more space than before, our new facility has all the space we need to meet the growing needs of our clients quickly, efficiently and accurately.
SGS’s Brookings’ laboratory serves the country’s growing food industry, offering physical, chemical, microbiological testing and label review services, alongside the newly achieved nutritional testing to meet US FDA requirements, across a broad range of food categories:
Grains and cereals
Meat, poultry and seafood
Fruit and vegetables

Tea and coffee
Processed, canned and frozen foods
Oil and fats
Confectionary and chocolate
“We are proud to achieve ISO 17025 accreditation in nutritional testing especially with the new Nutrition Facts Table regulation effective as of July 26, 2016” said Theresa Almonte, Food Business Manager, SGS US. “Building on our other services, such as label validation and creation of camera-ready Nutrition Facts Panel amongst others, for a complete food solution, this accreditation assures our clients of the best possible quality of service.”
