Sustainability is a major issue both globally and at a national and local level. Whether viewed from a personal or business perspective, it is a collective responsibility to ensure that the needs of our generation are not met at the expense of generations to come. With a focus on sustainable development, the footwear industry has already taken some important first steps in facing these challenges and identifying opportunities to reduce the burden on resources. Building sustainability in to the footwear industry requires a detailed approach which considers all aspects from design to manufacturing and addresses all areas of resource usage including human, energy, raw materials, chemical and water. Not only can it be shown that this approach improves sustainability, it is also apparent that a reduction in processing and production costs can be achieved.
In this webinar, we will be sharing with you some of the concepts and practical steps available within the footwear industry to increase overall sustainability. Key approaches in footwear design, raw material selection and manufacturing operations will be considered and their impact on sustainability will be discussed. This webinar is designed to help brands, retailers, sourcing companies and even footwear manufacturers to identify practical steps that can be taken in their goal to reduce resource impact on future generations.
