Dr. Harry Behzadi, VP Business Development, SGS EHS North America, will present at the International Petroleum Environmental Conference, in Denver, CO, October 31 at 1 PM.  His talk is titled: Advances in Oil Spill Forensic Using Biomarkers and Isotope Ratio Technique.

Isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) a technique SGS performs, finds increasingly widespread carbon isotopic ratios can provide useful information with regard to oil spills and oilfield fingerprinting. Combining this approach with biomarker methodology leads to increased confidence in the results.  Depending on the samples, GC-c-IRMS can be the only reliable technique for fingerprinting due to lack of biomarkers.
