SGS Opens New Electrical and Electronics Testing Center of Excellence in Atlanta
SGS Consumer Testing Services, a leading global provider of verification, testing and certification services, is expanding in the U.S. with the opening of a new electrical and electronics lab in Atlanta dedicated exclusively to testing and certifying electrical and electronic (E&E) products. SGS will hold an open house on Tuesday, September 20, with testing demonstrations and facility tours, including a 10-meter electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing chamber large enough to fit a car.
The new lab will evaluate the electromagnetic capability, battery and energy efficiency, and safety compliance of products in dozens of categories ranging from medical devices and home electronics to office equipment, lighting products and laboratory equipment.
“This lab expands our E&E testing capabilities to provide a comprehensive resource for brand manufacturers, retailers and importers who need to meet local and international regulatory requirements. Additionally, customers needing certification marks and approvals for other countries will be able to utilize the facility to access global markets,” said Ozgur Ozturk, Manager of Operations at the new Atlanta lab. “Bringing EMC, SAR, battery safety and Energy Star testing under one roof simplifies sourcing, eliminates the need to send products to numerous sites for different E&E testing services, and increases speed to market.”
The new facility in Atlanta is the latest addition to the comprehensive testing and certification services provided by SGS throughout the U.S. The main laboratory in Fairfield, NJ, covers all consumer product categories and features the latest chemistry testing technologies; the recently expanded San Diego, CA, site is the first U.S. lab providing certification test coverage for all cellular technologies in one location (2G, 3G, 4G, CDMA, EVDO, GSM, GPRS, WCDMA and LTE); and a new location in Basking Ridge, NJ, as well as an existing lab in Lenexa, KS, provide wireless carrier approval testing.
The new SGS lab in Atlanta is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that ensures accurate testing with the latest advancements in technology.
