SGS Offers RIN Integrity Program
SGS Agricultural Services is proud to offer a unique on-site plant verification service for the U.S. biofuels industry. Through this newly developed program, SGS contracts with producers, marketers, traders and other obligated parties to conduct quarterly on-site plant visits to verify final production volume and ensure fuel quality.
During these unannounced audits, our highly trained auditors will review feedstock and production records to verify actual production volumes via a mass balance system. SGS auditors will also witness sampling of the final product and seal the sample for shipment to an SGS laboratory for full ASTM D6751 slate testing.
Quarterly reports will be issued including the complete certificate of analysis, mass balance verification report and mass balance elements verification worksheets.
Recent industry RINs (Renewable Identification Number) integrity issues have created a need for verification assurance from an independent certification body. As an independent certification company with a reputation for integrity and high quality customer service, as well as years of experience in the petroleum and renewable fuels industry, SGS is well-positioned to offer this service to the US biodiesel industry.
According to Howie Nelson, SGS Business Development Manager, the service will help provide independent assurance that production facilities are in fact producing biofuels in the quantities and qualities as reported to EPA.
