Field Research Network Capabilities
SGS has an extensive network of residue testing facilities throughout the US that are capable of conducting GLP residue testing as well as contractual agreements with numerous field trial organizations for regions without an SGS research station. By doing this, SGS can provide testing capabilities in virtually every EPA/NAFTA region on virtually every crop – including row crops, grains, fruit and nut trees, feeds and forages and more. SGS can provide a variety of agricultural GLP residue services, performing field tests in all the relevant geographical, cultural and climatic conditions.
In all scenarios, our international field station network adopts standard operating procedures (SOPs) and delivers harmonized content procedures. Our programs involve various application techniques, plus sample preparation and storage. SGS has an established sample preparation center where any GLP samples can be prepared for the analytical phase. SGS laboratories are fully equipped to process GLP sample prep for all row crops, as well as food and feed processing commodities. In addition, SGS laboratories are GLP certified and USDA certified for regulated soils.
For residue testing programs, we offer complete study management or can manage partial aspects (protocol development, field, analytical, report writing, Quality Assurance, etc.) of any project – depending on our clients’ needs.
We carry out full GLP-compliant food processing studies on a range of activities (e.g. wheat to flour and bread, barley and hops to beer, oranges to juice). Our GLP residue testing and analytics service covers method development and validation, independent laboratory validation and analysis of residues in crops (including rotational crops) and processing products, as well as tissues, soil, water and air.
Our SGS North America Residue Analytical laboratory located in Brookings, South Dakota, works with our field sites to provide our clients with a “field to finish” SGS in-house analytical solution. In addition to providing seed services, this facility is well equipped to analyze field and related biological samples. Initially developed to handle in-house support for seed coatings, the Brookings lab has expanded their capabilities to include the performance of residue analysis. Equipped with modern analytical instrumentation, the facility is staffed with chemists experienced in pesticide residue analysis.
