SGS North America Appoints New Agricultural Trade Services Manager
With an extensive commodity trading industry background, Alan Shirley has been appointed as SGS’s new North America Trade Services Manager. In addition to managing the regional operations, Alan will also drive the business development of the US markets, ensuring best practices across the region.
Alan has more than 19 years experience in North American, Asian and European Agribusiness. After being a cotton trader for almost 10 years, he moved to various soft commodities and grain trading roles, before joining SGS in 2009. For the last five years Alan has fulfilled the roles of global sales manager for North America and US Fibers Division Manager, responsible for the business development of North America’s cotton, soft commodities and grain markets.
Building on his Agriculture supply chain experience, Alan will now also drive the continued diversification of the portfolio of commodities, as well as maintaining the standardization of SGS operations. In addition to his role as Trade Services Manager, Alan will continue to fulfil his roles of North America Agri Global Sales Manager and US Fibers Division Manager and will be based in Houston,TX, USA.
