SGS Metering Manager to Present at American Industrial Hygiene Conference
SGS USA Metering & Calibration manager Casey Hodges is presenting at the "Upstream Oil & Gas Exposures – A Complex Problem" at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference in Philadelphia.
Casey Hodges, the USA manager for SGS oil & gas metering, measurement, and calibration services, will be a contributor to the following Professional Development Course during the conference:
"Upstream Oil & Gas Exposures – A Complex Problem"
Saturday & Sunday May 19-20 2018: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Professional Development Course
Philadelphia Convention Center
CM Credit Hours: 14
The Professional Development Course helps attendees understand basic tenets of industrial hygiene to upstream oil and gas operations.
This course focuses on associating particular Industrial Hygiene hazards with a production life-cycle of a well including emergencies involving the release of well flow stream(s). Course content will include a description of various health hazards encountered in the industry, specific areas and tasks undertaken by industry and support service workers where those hazards are to be expected, associated toxicology and disease risk, challenges associated with the communication of those hazards and risks to stakeholders, and control methods and procedures currently deployed by the industry to reduce risk. Appropriate use of real-time detection equipment and exposure sampling methodologies will be discussed. The course will describe successful strategies undertaken by IH practitioners in health risk communication to stakeholders, alignment of operational strategy with the need for reduction of identified risk(s), and deployment of successful control strategies.
• Drilling Phase of Operation
• Hydraulic Fracturing Phase
• The Production phase
• Workover Operations (Repair, Maintenance, Optimization) of a Well
• Laboratory Methods
• Prevention Methods through Design Strategies
• Clean-up/Spill Response Case Studies
• Emergency Response
Instructors will provide participants with references, case studies, and a perspective to immediately improve an EHS program focused on upstream oil and gas operations.
SGS Galson Laboratories will have an exhibit at the conference. Please visit booth 1609.
