New SGS Bayport Texas Chemical Laboratory
SGS opening new expanded chemical testing laboratory in Bayport, Texas in 2018.
SGS is opening a new and expanded chemical testing laboratory in Bayport Texas.
Scheduled to open in October 2018, the new chemical laboratory building is over 6,400 square feet in size with 70% of the space devoted to the laboratory testing area. Replacing an older, smaller facility, the new Bayport laboratory will operate on a 24/7/365 basis supporting local, regional, national, and international SGS clients.
The new Bayport chemical lab will test a diverse range of petrochemicals and other chemicals. Chemicals analyzed include aromatic solvents, aliphatic solvents, alcohols, esters, acids, caustics, ethanol, olefins, glycols, glycol-ethers, acrylates, along with monomers such as styrene, vinyl-acetate-monomer (VAM), and anhydrides.
Our Bayport laboratory capabilities will be significantly expanded in the new location. Over 20 gas chromatography instruments will be installed and equipped with various detectors, auto-samplers, and other enhancements. Other instrumentation and tests include elemental trace analysis, trace metals analysis, ion chromatography, titrators (auto & manual), flashpoint testing, trace sulfur analysis, API gravity, density, color, pH, conductivity, distillation, moisture and other analysis. Trace chlorides analysis will be added in the future, along with other niche testing capabilities requested by SGS customers.
