The new SGS Texas City laboratory accommodates full test-slate analysis on #6 fuel oil in accordance with ISO-8217 Bunker specifications, VGO (vacuum gas oil), and Crude Oil.

SGS has opened its new petroleum laboratory in Texas City, Texas. The new Texas City lab opened in September 2018. Dedicated space allocated to the Texas City laboratory is over 2,300 square feet, and is designed to accommodate new laboratory capabilities and planned future laboratory expansion. 

Significant improvements have been made to the Texas City facility as part of the new lab construction project, including new lab renovations, the installation of nearly 100 linear feet of new lab-bench casework, acid and ashing fume hoods, and other important infrastructure enhancements.

The new Texas City lab offers a full test-slate analysis on #6 fuel oil, in accordance with ISO-8217 Bunker specifications, VGO (vacuum gas oil) and Crude Oil. Laboratory testing will include distillation, density, flash-point and other related tests when opened. All equipment is new and state-of-the-art, including dual auto-viscosity analysis @ 50C with an auto-sampling carousel for handling multiple samples in minimal time. Additional testing capabilities will be added as needed to support local customers. The Texas City Laboratory will also be supported by the extensive SGS laboratory network, including major laboratories in nearby Deer Park and Bayport.

Management  of the Texas City facility are handpicked for the market, consisting of veteran industry professionals in fuel oil and crude oil testing and operations with many years of bunker fuel blending, testing, and inspection experience.
