One of the largest Automotive OEMs in the world was looking for a partner to help improve social accountability and visibility of its NAM suppliers. Prior to hiring SGS, the client was sending supplier verification surveys to their NAM suppliers to meet its social accountability obligations, reviewing the self-assessment data remotely. However, the client wanted to resolve some of the risk management issues in their supply chain and explore on-site verification of supplier social accountability programs.
Due to its global reach and local resources, the client chose SGS to provide a cost-effective solution, utilizing local auditors. SGS conducts on-site verification audits of NAM suppliers, based on the self-assessment verification survey and a checklist provided by the client.
The partnership with SGS allows the client greater insight into its supply chain, and the potential risk issues that might arise from social accountability incidents. After three years of providing on-site verification audits of NAM suppliers, the client also contracted SGS to provide the same service in the APAC region.
