SGS Awards EXCiPACT Certification to the W.R. Grace & Co. Site in Baltimore, Maryland, USA

This certification, against the EXCiPACT good manufacturing practice (GMP) standard, demonstrates W.R. Grace & Co.'s commitment to delivering safe and quality pharmaceutical excipients to the market. The scope covers their manufacturing of silicon dioxide as a pharmaceutical excipient according to the 2017 EXCiPACT cGMP certification standard.

SGS and W.R. Grace & Co entered a rigorous assessment process to become EXCiPACT Registered. Both satisfied the additional EXCiPACT competency requirements set out in the EXCiPACT annex to the ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 standard. These include completion of the EXCiPACT Auditor Training Course, a post-course written examination and an independently witnessed audit to verify their competency to the required standard. SGS also had its auditor's report verified by its independent certification board prior to issuing the certificate.

The EXCiPACT Certification Scheme provides for independent certification of manufacturers and suppliers of excipients. This is a means of ensuring patient safety and improving assurance of supplier quality, while minimizing overall supply chain costs.
