Face Mask Testing in a Laboratory 344px

SGS now offers ASTM F1980 as part of its ISO/IEC 17025 testing scope for accelerated aging of PPE.

SGS’s IBR Laboratories is pleased to announce expansion of their ISO/IEC 17025 certification to include ASTM F1980. This is the standard test method for evaluating the accelerated aging of masks, respirators, gowns, and gloves.

Aging and shelf-life studies are critical for ensuring optimum environmental conditions and storage methods. As medical face protection continues to be essential for the health and safety of all workers, this addition to our certification scope helps to protect stockpiles.

What is ASTM F1980

ASTM F1980 is a test method that allows for rapidly determining the effects of long-term storage on the key performance criteria of the product. The information obtained from conducting this test may be used to support the shelf life.

Accreditation to conduct ASTM F1980 testing by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) follows a focused development process at SGS’s testing facility in Grass Lake, Michigan.
