Export goods to Haiti and demonstrate compliance to relevant product standards.

People in station

Under Haiti’s Product Verification of Conformity (PVoC) the Ministry of Economy and Finance requires that imported products must be inspected for conformity to the country’s technical regulations and standards, or their approved equivalent. Its aim is to establish a quality import inspection regime to protect the public against substandard products that can endanger public health, safety and the environment.

We work with exporters to help demonstrate compliance and issue a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) which gives access to the Haitian marketplace, avoids delays in customs and reduces potential losses from the import of non-compliant products. Every consignment of qualifying goods is to be verified at origin by SGS before shipment.

Depending on the certification route we provide one, or a combination, of the following interventions:

  • Digital inspection prior to shipment
  • Sampling, testing and analysis in accredited laboratories
  • Audit of product manufacturing processes
  • Documentary check and assessment of conformity with the requirements of the applicable technical regulations and standards

Exporters must submit the following documents to confirm compliance with relevant regional or international standards:

  • Request for Certification
  • Proforma invoice, final invoice
  • Test reports from an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory
  • Product marking/label templates

A CoC is issued to evidence the compliance of a shipment. A non-conformity report (NCR) is issued if verification activities such as testing or inspection show discrepancies against the verification criteria. Exporters will be informed accordingly and given sufficient time to make the necessary corrections.

Regulated goods arriving into the country without a CoC from SGS will be, after approval by the Head of Customs and payment of the fee and penalty, subject to systematic local inspection, sampling and testing. Clearance will not be authorized until satisfactory test results are available.

With decades of experience managing conformity assessment programs around the world we offer exporters efficient and comprehensive solutions to ensure shipments conform to Haiti requirements.
